Firefighters’ Day: Kosovo Acting President expresses gratitude to first responders

The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, on the International Firefighters’ Day, has expressed gratitude to the “first-minute responders.”

According to her, in moments when others move away from danger, firefighters move toward it.

“In fires, floods, accidents, or rescue operations, they are there where seconds matter more than anything else. Their work requires great courage but also discipline,” Acting President Haxhiu said.

Acting President Haxhiu also thanked firefighters for their daily service and for the readiness they show in moments when citizens are in greatest need.

May 4 is an international day dedicated to firefighters, when countries organize various solemn activities in recognition of the work and sacrifices firefighters make in helping every citizen who needs emergency assistance in different situations.

On this important international day, in their respective countries, firefighters are visited by state institutions and mechanisms, honored with acknowledgments and thanks, while they also demonstrate professional skills that prove their emergency readiness to assist citizens at any time.

In Kosovo, however, this day passes in silence, and the fire service is in a very difficult position in every aspect.
