At the Basic Court in Pristina, the main trial against the defendant accused of espionage, Jelena Dukanovic, has begun. Today as well, she declared herself not guilty before the trial panel for the criminal offense she is charged with.
The Serbian citizen and former employee of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said she does not feel guilty for the offense she is accused of by the Special Prosecution.
“I do not feel guilty,” she said.
The defendant, Jelena Dukanovic, and her lawyer, Predrag Miljkovic, waived the right to have the indictment read, as it had already been read at the initial hearing.
“We do not need it, we have already read it once,” he said.
The trial is currently continuing with the opening statements of all parties.
Dukanovic, a Serbian citizen and former employee of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), is suspected of being involved in espionage activities in cooperation with another person, who is also under investigation by the authorities.
There are suspicions that she cooperated with the Serbian Security and Intelligence Agency (BIA).
The defendant accused of espionage, Jelena Dukanovic, also at the hearing in September last year did not admit guilt at the initial trial held at the Basic Court in Pristina.
Dukanovic was arrested on 28 February 2025 at the Jarinje border crossing, and has been in detention since then.
