The citizens of the Serbian community in Graçanica consider that they will be harmed by the decision to remove the Serbian dinar from use. These local Serbs are critical of the Kosovo executive, who demand that such a decision be revoked. Despite the criticism, they have continued to use this currency. KosovaPress has documented the circulation of the Serbian dinar in the shops of Graçanica. Even the sellers themselves, behind the camera, have confirmed that they have accepted this currency for purchase.
From today, the Regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo came into force, which decides that only the euro currency can be used for cash payments. This regulation stipulates that only the euro currency will be used for payments, removing the Serbian dinar from use. Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo has announced that the implementation of the new regulation for cash operations will be done through an easy transition.
However, the citizen from Graçanica, Milosh Todorovic, considers this decision unfair.
He expects that this decision will not remain in force and continue with the use of the Serbian dinar as currency.
Even Kosora, an elderly Serbian woman, considers that removing the dinar from use will harm pensioners.
Titomir Sekuliq, who is a resident of Graçanica, says that this has been decided by the government, for which he is critical.
Even today, the European Union has reacted regarding the new regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo, asking Kosovo to ensure a fairly long transition period and to find a negotiated solution to this issue within the dialogue.
Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi declared last night that there will be a transitional period that will be accompanied by education and information of the citizens of Kosovo.
According to him, the international partners do not dispute that the euro has been and continues to be the only official currency in use.
