The former chairman of the Central Electoral Commission, Mazllum Baraliu, says that it is the right step not to postpone the elections in the four northern municipalities. According to him, reducing the number of voting centers and voting in alternative centers depending on the circumstances is a long-standing international practice.
He emphasizes that as long as there is no legal threshold for the percentage of citizens’ participation in the elections, they will be legal and legitimate. Meanwhile, Baraliu says that he does not expect destabilization of the situation in the north despite the non-participation of the Serbian List in the elections of April 23, while also emphasizing the need not to hinder the exercise of mandates for those who win them after the elections.
