KEDS has announced that it has received the order from the National Dispatch Center of Kosovo, part of KOSTT, to start with power outages from 08:00 on Monday – August 15.
The KEDS communique states that these outages, based on the plan sent, will be up to 2 hours for all consumers, who will have 6 hours of electricity and 2 hours of outages on Monday.
“From tomorrow, the country will be supplied only by local production. This, since KEDS and KESCO no longer have the financial means to get energy outside of what is produced by local generators. This situation has come to this due to the enormous prices in the international markets and the failure to cover the cost of the system. This has led to a serious financial situation for KOSTT, which ENTSO no longer allows to make deviations. This means that any demand on local production is limited to the impossibility of being covered by imports”, the communiqué states.
“The electricity purchased until today has caused enormous losses for both KEDS and KESCO. Last year, both companies closed the year with large financial losses, one 27.8 million euros, the other 18.5 million euros, in a total of more than 46 million euros in losses,” the communique further states.
KEDS says that during the extraordinary tariff review, the regulator took into account the government subsidy of 100 million euros, but not a single cent of that amount has been allocated to the supplier, which has aggravated the situation even more.
