The Technical Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, declared that the Constitution and the law will be the basis of every action and decision in the government. After accepting the office, he stated that the primary work of this government is the preparation, organization and implementation of democratic elections.
In the government, there has been an acceptance-handover of duties between the former prime minister Dimitar Kovacevski and the chairman of the technical government, Talat Xhaferi.
Regardless of how long this government will last, Xhaferi vowed that there will never be a lack of regular institutional functioning.
After accepting the office of Prime Minister, Technical Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi added that the advancement of North Macedonia’s strategic partnership with the European Union, NATO and the United States of America will remain a primary priority.
Dimitar Kovacevski, who led the government from January 2022, congratulated Xhafer for the post of the head of the government.
Kovacevski resigned on January 25, while four days later, on January 29, Talat Xhaferi, who until then led the legislative institution, was voted for prime minister in the Assembly of North Macedonia. The first Albanian Prime Minister in North Macedonia is from the ranks of the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI).
The resignation of the former prime minister is based on the Law on elections and the work of the Government, with the aim of forming the technical Government, which will operate for 100 days, or until the parliamentary elections, which will be held on May 8.
The practice of forming technical governments, 100 days before the elections in North Macedonia, was established in 2016. Based on the election law, the Macedonian opposition will also be part of the technical government. /Sh. Pajaziti
