For several days now, the National Museum of Kosovo has not been able to receive visitors, due to the power outage. The two exhibition halls, in which many artifacts are located, are without lighting due to a fault in the electricity system.
The director of the National Museum of Kosovo, Vjollca Aliu, in an interview for KosovaPress, says that despite the efforts of the technical staff of the museum and other teams from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it has not been possible to fix the electricity problem.
She points out that due to the power outage, four groups that were announced to visit the museum, could not explore the exhibition halls.
For KosovaPress, Aliu says that, unable to enter the exhibition halls, two groups visited the museum’s courtyard, receiving explanations by the docent, and they were sent to the “Emin Gjiku” Ethnological Complex.
She says that there have been other requests for visits, but they have been informed that after the repair of the defect, they will be welcomed.
In addition to these, Aliu says that she has also addressed the issue to the Ministry of Culture, which has increased its commitments, but the defect is still present. She points out that according to the expertise done, it is expected that during the next week the electricity problem will be fixed.
During the last year, the National Museum of Kosovo was visited by about 12 thousand visitors. Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Culture, the project for the renovation and restoration of the museum building has also passed the stages of assessment by the commission of the Kosovo Institute for the Protection of Monuments and very soon the procedure will begin for the engagement of the operator who will carry out its restoration. /Z.
