Although not so far from the center, a large neighborhood with a considerable number of citizens, does not seem to have the attention of the leaders of the Municipality of Prishtina. It is about the residents of “Malush Kosova” street, who does not have paved roads, lighting or bus line.
Various works have damaged the road, causing traffic difficulties for the citizens. They say they have made many requests to the municipality for their problems. Meanwhile, representatives of the municipality have given some good news for this neighborhood.
Shaban Majkofci, a resident of this neighborhood said that the unpaved road and lack of lighting are causing them problems.
“In fact, it is causing us a few problems, but the municipality is aware that central heating pipes have been installed here, but they were installed very late, so they had no time to fix them… We do not have information when it is expected to be fixed, but the municipality is informed. It causes us problems, but the issue is that the heating pipes were installed very late, and that is why it has remained like this”, said Majkofci.
He also said that lighting is also a problem.
“Lighting is also a problem, this is the light that is coming from the premises here, and otherwise that is a problem. I do not know if the municipality is informed or not about lighting”, he said.
Arlinda Zenelaj, also a resident of this neighborhood, says that the municipality is still not taking any action.
“Yes, I believe they are informed, but they are not doing anything. For us it is a big problem, we cross this road with children, when the weather is very cold it is hindering us a lot, the traffic is very dense and the lighting is an obstacle”, said Zenelaj.
Mehdi Makolli, said that they also have problems with bus lines.
“There is no lighting from time to time. These are the works they did, they left them like this… Of course, it causes us problems, it is worth to have works, that are important, we can have some difficulties, but leaving the work in half causes us problems, for cars, while walking on foot, and everything… We have a problem with the bus line, we do not have a bus line here. We are like an isolated neighborhood… Every day I walk for an hour to go to Prishtina, because there is no bus line… 100 times we have made requests, sometimes there was a bus line, sometimes the bus line number 6 or 7, they have tried it, but now there is no bus line here”, he said.
Regarding the problems in this neighborhood, KosovaPress has received several responses from the directorates in the Municipality of Prishtina.
Regarding the lighting on this street, Bashkim Sadiku, senior official for energy in the municipality of Prishtina, in a written response, told KosovaPress that it will be realized based on budgetary possibilities.
“I would like to inform you that the road which has no lighting will be realized based on budget opportunities with ongoing projects. The same is on the list”, said Sadiku.
Krenar Xhaferi, director of Capital Investments said that they are working on the contract and that the company has been selected for the repair of the road.
“In reality, every day we receive information about road damages, as well as for the road “Malush Kosova”. For the road “Malush Kosova”, we are in the process of preparing a contract, I believe next week the works on that road will begin. All potholes and all the way from the beginning will be treated. Normally, the parts that are damaged will be treated, and also the street “Malush Kosova”, the company has been selected and I believe next week the works will start, with the beginning of the working season in Prishtina”, said Xhaferi.
Meanwhile, Habib Qorri, head of the public services sector said that the bus lines will be designed based on road infrastructure, requirements and needs of citizens to provide transport service, however, did not tell exactly whether there will be public transport on this road.
“According to the current plan for public passenger transport lines, a bus line has been up to “Holgen Petersen” Street. Whereas with the mobility plan, where the reorganization of the public passenger transport is planned, the redesign of the bus lines in the territory of Prishtina is also planned, which includes all the neighborhoods. Therefore, the lines will be designed based on the road infrastructure, the demands and needs of the citizens to provide the transport service”, he said.
