The Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers, through a ceremony, has signed an agreement worth over 12 million euros with the German Development Bank (KfW) and the Kosovo Landfill Management Company (KLMC), which aims to improve waste management in Prishtina, Prizren and Gjilan.
This project is a contribution of the European Union implemented by KfW.
The Minister of Finance, Labor and Transfers, Hekuran Murati, said that this agreement aims to improve the quality of life of citizens by guaranteeing a cleaner environment.
He emphasized that the project aims to contribute to the sustainable management of waste in accordance with the principles of environmental protection and to control waste disposal according to the national strategy for waste management.
Meanwhile, the head of KfW’s Southeast European Department, Klaus Muller, while evaluating the importance of this project, emphasized that it is urgent to take actions in this field.
According to him, the local and central level should work together to overcome the problems with waste and for this project to be completed on time.
The general director at the Kosovo Landfill Management Company (KLMC), Dardan Veliaj, said that this project is essential for the company.
He emphasized that through this program the condition of sanitary landfills is expected to change.
