Strong winds in Pristina, Fushtica: There is no reason for panic

Strong winds that have affected Pristina and the entire country have prompted local institutions to prepare for any possible situation.

In the capital, the Municipality of Pristina intervened during the day in various parts of the city, mainly in cases where metal sheets were dislodged due to the wind. Fortunately, no serious situation or risk to citizens has been reported.

The Director of the Directorate for Security and Emergencies in Pristina, Lulzim Fushtica, told KosovaPress that throughout the day they have been in continuous coordination with the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute.

He said that additional consultations were held with them in the morning and they have been assured that there is currently no reason for panic.

“During the morning hours, as well as earlier during the day, we held additional consultations with them and we have been assured that there is currently no reason for panic. Despite this, since last night we have engaged all relevant structures and all emergency teams are in full readiness,” Fushtica said.

He also stated that the Directorate for Security and Emergencies teams, the Professional Fire Brigade, the Capital Police, and emergency response teams are all on standby.

Furthermore, he noted that several interventions were carried out during the day, but no serious situation has occurred.

“During the day we have had several interventions in different parts of the city, mainly cases of metal sheets falling due to the winds, but fortunately no serious situation or risk to citizens has been reported,” he added.

The Director of the Directorate for Security and Emergencies in Pristina called on all citizens to contact emergency numbers 0800 12233 and 12244 in case of need or concern, adding that they remain ready to respond to any request or concern.
