After the request of the Municipal Assembly in Northern Mitrovica for the opening of the Ibar bridge for vehicles, the European Union reacted by saying that any decision taken on this issue should be discussed within the dialogue.
EU spokesman Peter Stano said that the opening of the bridge in Mitrovica is the subject of two agreements within the dialogue facilitated by the EU from 2015 and 2016.
According to him, every decision related to the bridge should be discussed and developed within the framework of dialogue.
Stano has warned that all the obligations of the pending agreements must be fulfilled without delay, and the same, according to him, applies to the agreement on the bridge and also to the agreement on the path to normalization of relations.
The municipal councilor of North Mitrovica, Aida Doli, has requested the opening of the main bridge of Ibar for vehicles as soon as possible, despite the objections of the EU.
The Municipal Assembly of Northern Mitrovica has supported the decision to open the Ibar bridge for vehicle traffic in Friday’s session.
