Many Serbian citizens protested today in front of the police facility in the north of Mitrovica, against the arrest of the leader of the ‘Serbian Democracy’, Aleksandar Arsenijeviq, which happened on Wednesday afternoon.
They demanded the immediate release of Arsenijeviq, while holding banners in Serbian and English with the words “EULEX what rule is this”, “Is the EU concerned”, etc.
The vice-president of ‘Serbian Democracy’, Stefan Veljkoviq, told KosovaPress that today the citizens are protesting against the repression that is being done to the Serbs by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The protesters, including officials of the “Serbian List”, after about an hour of standing in front of the police facility, started walking towards the main bridge of Iber. When they approached a bar in the north, which was full of Albanian guests, they started shouting ‘Serbia, Serbia’, thus provoking the guests who were sitting in this bar, while some of them came very close, whistling at their faces. Only thanks to the wise reaction of the police, whose members were lined up in front of this bar, any possible incident was avoided.
The protest lasted more than an hour and a half and the police watched the situation closely the entire time. /A. Damati/
