The Western Balkans Summit has started in Berlin, where German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Europe can only be complete with the Western Balkans as part of it, while he asked for acceleration in the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations.
Scholz said that it is time to overcome the regional conflicts, so that the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations will give its results.
“You, the six Balkan countries belong to a free and complete Europe and your membership in the EU is in our interest. And, all of us must increase our commitment to meet the expectations raised almost twenty years ago in Thessaloniki. The promise of the European future for your citizens and countries is our job to turn the promise into reality and this has brought us together today. I am glad that this vision is shared by all of you… Together we are convinced that the Berlin process will not only help unleash the full potential of regional cooperation, but will accelerate the EU membership of all countries of the Western Balkans… The process of normalization between Kosovo and Serbia must be accelerated, so let’s do it. The citizens of the Western Balkans can count on Germany, and they can count on the support of the Berlin Process,” said Scholz.
