Civil servants, technical administrative support officials, and workers of the subordinate units of “Dodona” Theater, the Archive of the Municipality of Prishtina, the “Hivzi Sylejmani” Library, the Cultural Center for Youth and the Firefighters, have protested today (Tuesday) in front of the Municipality of Prishtina due to the dissatisfaction with conditions in the workplace.
The protest was organized by the Union Association of Workers of the Administration of the Municipality of Prishtina (SPAK).
“Stop expenses in the courts, just execute the decisions”, “Mayor, is anyone listening to you”, “Implementation of the decisions of the Independent Oversight Board for the Civil Service of Kosovo”, “The Assembly approves, the mayor executes”, “Draft the regulation” were some from the inscriptions on the banners of the protesters organized by SPAK addressed to the Municipality of Prishtina.
The Chairman of the Union Association of Workers of the Administration of the Municipality of Prishtina, Ahmet Gashi, said that for two years they have been submitting their demands, which are related to the drafting of the Regulation for the systematization of the workplace. He added that the Municipality of Prishtina lacks a regulation and description of work duties.
Gashi emphasized that their fourth request is related to the creation of better conditions for the workers of the Municipality than Prishtina.
It was further said that if there is no reflection from mayor Përparim Rama, other union measures will continue, intensifying the strike.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Independent Union of Public Administration, Ali Gashi, said that if the municipal leaders had left only some of their dinners, they would have covered the demands.
He called on the protesters to raise their voices and demand their rights because according to him “as for these local and central governments, they will never think of you and your families”.
Meanwhile, the Finance Officer in the Directorate of Education, Mentor Dragusha, said that they are not asking for alms, but for justice. He added that they want support from the mayor of the municipality, Përparim Rama.
