At an extraordinary press conference held by Kosovo’s most decorated club, Sigal Prishtina, the club’s General Director, Luan Maloku, said that a total of 700,000 euros spent in the final weeks of last year remain unaccounted for.
“We took over the accounts at zero. Salaries have not been paid — neither mine nor those of the players and staff. Even after the 700,000 euros were received, we were still not paid. There is also an unpaid overdraft worth 50,000 euros in the negative. We have obligations to bus companies, airlines, and other enforcement-related matters in process. However, none of this will stop us from moving forward. On behalf of president Rinor Greiqevci, I promise that Prishtina will survive because we have sponsors,” Maloku initially stated.
He further called on the Municipality of Prishtina and potential sponsors to unite in supporting KB Prishtina during this very difficult financial situation.
“We have sponsors, and I call on Prishtina. The Municipality of Prizren was able to offer 150,000 euros to Bashkimi because supporters helped their mayor be where he is today. If Prizren has offered Bashkimi 150,000 euros, then Prishtina has the capacity to give two or three times more than Prizren — more than any team. For this season we are fine, but from next season onward, I call on sponsors — the door is open to everyone, and there will be transparency,” Maloku said.
Despite the current crisis, he stressed that the club will not dissolve and will survive.
“I don’t know if you came to hear bad news, but I’m giving you good news. The club has never been more united — with the whole city and all the people. Prishtina truly has people who will never allow this club to fall from where it belongs.”
Meanwhile, Edmond Azemi, Sporting Director of KB Prishtina, also called for greater support for the blue-and-white club.
“We will never give up. We will work, we will be transparent with the media and citizens, and our work will be fair and correct. I believe everyone deserves that, because Prishtina deserves to be in first place,” Azemi emphasized.
He also announced that a new basketball player will soon join KB Prishtina.
