The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, paid tribute at the Martyrs’ Cemetery Complex in Velania on Pristina’s Day of Martyrs.
Osmani stated that the sacrifice made by Martyrs for Kosovo’s freedom and independence, serve as a guiding light every single day.
She emphasized that the martyrs giving their lives is evidence of the prolonged struggle for Kosovo’s freedom and independence.
The head of state said that “the strongest foundations of our state stand because of the martyrs’ sacrifice.”
“Today is the day of the fallen martyrs of the municipality of Pristina, which also coincides with many battles that took place in the surrounding villages, which we will commemorate together with the families of the martyrs and fallen heroes in Makoc and Marec. Here in Velania lie a large number of martyrs who gave their lives for Kosovo, which is also testimony to the long fight for the freedom, independence, and statehood we enjoy today. That’s why we remember them all with the deepest respect, and every day, we take as our guide the very sacrifice made by these martyrs on this land of Kosovo, which is soaked with blood. We must never forget that the strongest foundations of our state stand today precisely because of this sacrifice,” said Osmani.
Tributes at the Martyrs’ Cemetery Complex in Velania were also paid by acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti along with his cabinet.
Tributes were also made by the Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, along with former KLA commander Rrustem Mustafa and other former fighters.
