The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, today met with the newly elected Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, in his capacity as Speaker.
In this meeting, Speaker Basha presented his position regarding the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. According to a statement from the Office of the Presidency, Vjosa Osmani informed Speaker Basha that the legal team of the Presidency is conducting an analysis regarding the process of constituting the Assembly of Kosovo.
“The President emphasized that, as always, she will act in full compliance with the Constitution and applicable laws, ensuring institutional stability and respecting the will of the citizens of Kosovo,” Osmani wrote.
On Saturday, the Assembly of Kosovo failed to elect a deputy speaker from the Serbian community. None of the deputies from the Serbian community obtained the necessary majority to be elected as deputy speaker of the Assembly, yet Speaker Dimal Basha closed the constitutive session.
