Osmani explains her statement in Politico interview, discusses Serbian criminal groups

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, today explained her statement made in an interview with POLITICO, where she said, “In these five years, we have dismantled over 900 Serbian criminal cases,” clarifying that what she meant was the number of cases in which Serbian criminal groups were involved in crimes.

Osmani, when asked by the media about her statement, also mentioned some of the cases where these criminal groups were involved over the past five years.

“Yesterday, we provided an official clarification in the interview I gave to POLITICO. The necessary corrections were made. What I meant was the number of cases. Serbian criminal groups have been involved in hundreds of cases, such as the abuse of votes from 2021 onwards, continuous pressure on Serbian citizens, illegal arms smuggling into Kosovo, violence against citizens, including attacks on journalists. We have 93 cases just of attacks on KFOR soldiers, and there are hundreds and hundreds of cases where Serbian criminal groups have been involved in crimes. So, I was thinking about the cases, and it was something very unintended that was said, and even Politico did not use that, it did not appear in international media,” said Osmani.

In the interview with POLITICO, while walking in Berlin, Osmani had mistakenly said that in the past five years, “we have dismantled over 900 criminal cases.”
