Osmani expects the formation of institutions as soon as possible: Coalitions are a matter for political parties

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, stated that she hopes the ninth legislature will be constituted on April 15. Osmani emphasized that the issue of coalitions is a matter for political parties and that she remains outside this discussion, although, according to her, past presidents have interfered in such matters, KosovaPress reports.

Vjosa Osmani highlighted the importance of constituting the Assembly as soon as possible, given global geopolitical developments, stating that “the world is not waiting for us.” She further expressed hope for a functional Assembly that will oversee the work of the government.

“It is important for the citizens of Kosovo, but as you can see, geopolitical developments are ongoing, and the world is not waiting for us. It is crucial that, as soon as possible—but certainly within constitutional deadlines—we constitute the Assembly, which is the first step, followed by the formation of the government of the Republic of Kosovo. A functional Assembly must also fulfill its oversight role regarding the government, as Kosovo has a lot of work to do. Therefore, I wish success to the members of the Kosovo Assembly, who are the only ones with voting rights on that day, after taking their oath, with the hope that the constitution of the Assembly will be successful,” she said, as reported by KosovaPress.

Osmani made this statement after a meeting with the British Secretary. Yesterday, the President set the constitutive session for April 15.

The parliamentary elections were held on February 9, and the results were certified by the Central Election Commission (CEC) last week. Based on these results, LVV emerged as the leading party with 48 deputies, PDK came second with 24 deputies, LDK third with 20 deputies, and the AAK-NISMA coalition fourth with 8 deputies.
