After a long period, in September 2018, work began on the construction of the recreational and sports complex “Borea”, in Peja. This center, which is only 900 meters away from the city of Peja and which was expected to employ about 500 people, has stalled in the first year of its operation. The works for this center were stopped due to the suspension of the construction permit by the Ministry of Environment during the Haradinaj Government.
For the mayor of Peja, Gazmend Muhaxheri, the reasons why this project has stalled is politics. Muhaxheri, in the interview for KosovaPress, says that the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, which later, according to a new organization was transformed into the Ministry of Environment, delayed the procedures for the zoning of the national park ” Bjeshkët e Nemuna” in the Government and the Assembly.
