The Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, says that the American “Javelin” missiles are expected to arrive in Kosovo in a short time. He adds that the country has executed all payments based on the planned plan and that the “Javelin” system will be in the inventory of the KSF very soon, but did not specify a date, because as he said, to the confidentiality of the process. However, Maqedonci emphasizes that Kosovo already owns the Turkish “OMTAS” missile system, which is similar to the “Javelin” one.
The Minister of Defense, in an interview for KosovaPress, states that the Kurti government in the last three years has invested about 240 million euros in the purchase of weapons systems.
He adds that in 2023, the KSF budget has reached the quota of 2 percent of the gross domestic product, which, according to him, is the goal to be achieved by all NATO countries.
The Minister underlines that the investment in defense by the Government will continue to be 2 percent during this year and the following years.
On the other hand, Maqedonci told KosovaPress about the departure of the soldiers from the KSF, for which he says that they are within normal parameters and that the KSF’s operationality is not affected.
In addition to this, Minister Maqedonci says that Kosovo’s military attachés are located in some of the main diplomatic centers, but he added that they are planning to place attachés in some other countries that they consider important.
Meanwhile, regarding the Security Fund, he said that it continues to remain confidential, but called on citizens to contribute.
