The former German emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia talks, Wolfgang Ischinger, today expressed concern about the tensions in the north of Kosovo.
He emphasized that urgent action by the European Union is needed.
“Deeply concerned about the ongoing tensions. Urgent EU decisive action/role. Has Serbia been made aware that inciting violence in the neighboring country, Kosovo, would make it impossible to continue the EU membership process?”, wrote Ischinger.
The situation in the north of the country continues to remain fragile. It has already been two weeks since the barricades were set up, blocking the movement of citizens and forcing the closure of the two border points Jarinje and Bernjak. During this time, there have been continuous explosions. Recently, a woman reported to the police that the window of her store was broken. It is suspected that the glass was broken as a result of a shock bomb explosion. The relevant police units went to the scene. Regarding the case, the state prosecutor was consulted, while the case continues to be investigated.
