The Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK), Ahmet Ismaili, and his colleagues held a meeting with the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Fabio Panetta, during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) that are being held in Washington DC
During this meeting, Governor Ismaili informed Panetta about the latest developments in the financial sector and other reforms undertaken at CBK, including the advancement of the legal and regulatory framework towards harmonization with those of the European Union.
“In particular, he informed about the progress made and the actions taken by the CBK in preparation for the process before the application for membership in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA)”, reads the communiqué.
It is further stated that Governor Ismaili expressed his appreciation to the Bank of Italy for the continuous support for the achievement of CBK’s objectives, including the consideration of the opportunities and technical infrastructure necessary for the functionalization of participation in the EU Payment System (TIPS), this project that is being handled in the regional aspect as well.
In the end, it is said that within the framework of the annual meetings, the CBK delegation will have bilateral meetings with counterparts from partner central banks.
