The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has reacted to disruptions related to the movement of goods between the European Union, regional transit corridors, and the Republic of Kosovo.
Recent developments, including blockades at border crossings by truck drivers in several countries in the region, linked to the implementation and enforcement of new EU entry rules and the EES system, are significantly hindering the movement of goods.
In this regard, AmCham Kosovo has called on the European Commission to urgently engage in finding a balanced and sustainable solution to the current challenges affecting international freight transport and cross-border supply chains, the media statement said.
“The free movement of goods and the uninterrupted functioning of road freight transport are essential for ensuring resilient supply chains, supporting economic activity, and advancing economic integration with the EU single market. The disruptions are already affecting businesses through delivery delays, the risk of contract non-compliance, financial losses, and the potential loss of international clients,” the statement said.
According to AmCham Kosovo, prolonged disruptions undermine supply security and risk increasing operating costs for businesses, which in turn may contribute to higher prices for consumers. “These developments may also negatively affect investment planning and financial obligations linked to production cycles and delivery deadlines.”
The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has encouraged all relevant parties to engage in constructive dialogue and work toward practical, predictable, and long-term solutions that ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods within European and regional supply chains, while simultaneously safeguarding the integrity of the EU’s border management systems.
