13 years since the entry into force of the Constitution

Only four months after the declaration of Kosovo’s Independence, on June 15, 2008, its Constitution entered into force, which defines Kosovo as an independent, sovereign, democratic, and indivisible state. The Republic of Kosovo is a secular state, a multiethnic society, composed of Albanians and other communities, it is said in the text of the Constitution with the entry into force of which begins the implementation of the plan of the former chief negotiator of the United Nations, Martti Ahtisaari.

The entry into force of the Constitution of Kosovo marks the beginning of a new period of political developments. The constitution enters into force 120 days after the declaration of independence. Kosovo institutions have managed to prepare and approve 40 laws that come out as a proposal from the Ahtisaari Package in a short period of time.
