Zeka: The Government of Kosovo has not given due importance to capital investments

The government of Kosovo has not given proper importance to capital investments, says in an interview for KosovaPress, the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Arian Zeka.

While emphasizing the need for such investments as infrastructure advancement, Zeka says that the country’s economic growth is lower than in 2019.

He considers that the pace of capital investments is slow, while emphasizing that in this direction there should be greater dynamics and also the launch of new projects.

Among other things, Zeka says that the financial support provided in the framework of the Growth Plan can be conditional on the implementation of agreements “including those with Serbia”.

Days ago, the European Commission approved the reform agendas for the countries of the Western Balkans – this is a step to enable the first payments from the Growth Plan.

For the Western Balkans, the Growth Plan has foreseen 6 billion euros, of which over 800 million euros belong to Kosovo.

Zeka also talks about Kosovo’s relations with the United States, which he calls worsened after the unilateral actions of the Kosovo executive.

But, according to him, the deteriorating reports have not affected the economic development since there is no measure that directly stops American financial support for Kosovo.

However, he considers that for American investors, the quality of the state’s relations with a country they target for business is important.

The Government of Kosovo has also been publicly criticized by the United States for actions that they considered unilateral.

The Kosovo authorities have undertaken several actions in the northern part of the country inhabited by a Serbian majority – among them the closure of parallel Serbian structures as well as the ban on the use of the Serbian dinar. /E.Krasniqi.
