In honor of the 14th anniversary of the declaration of Independence, today at 08:00 in the morning, the solemn raising of the flag of the Republic of Kosovo has taken place, so the activities for the marking of this day begin.
The flag-raising ceremony was attended by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the Speaker of the Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, the Minister of Defense, Armend Mehaj and the Commander of the KSF, Bashkim Jashari.
In honor of the 14th anniversary of independence, a series of activities have been organized where at 09:00 the heads of state will pay homage to the memorial complex in Prekaz, then to the grave of former Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova, and activist Adem Demaçi.
At 11:00 the Assembly of Kosovo will hold a solemn session in honor of the 14th birthday of Kosovo’s independence.
And at 12:00 in the square “Mother Teresa” will be the parade of of the KSF and Kosovo Police officers. There will be speeches by President Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti.
The Declaration of Independence of Kosovo was made on February 17, 2008 at 15:39 in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. In an extraordinary session attended by 109 MPs out of a total of 120, the Assembly of Kosovo unanimously declared Kosovo an independent, sovereign and democratic state.
Kosovo’s declaration of independence and declaration of independence was made by the then Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, while the president at the time was Fatmir Sejdiu.
