The University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” is among the first universities in the Balkans that has inaugurated the Center for Students with Special Needs on its campus.
And for these students who belong to the category of persons with disabilities, UP has called for financial support of up to 450 euros.
The vice-rector for Accreditation, Quality of Teaching and Student Affairs, Njomza Llullaku, told KosovaPress that all that is needed for the beneficiaries of the scholarship is the proof that they are a student of UP and that they have special needs. While, according to her, GPA will not be taken into account at all.
Llullaku also shows the equipment that is placed in this center. While she invites all public and private universities to open a center for students with disabilities.
The students of this university, who live in different cities, have asked the university to provide transportation.
Llullaku has expressed that they will try to fulfill this request as well.
Another innovation at the University of Pristina, according to vice-rector Llullaku, will be the placement of a link on the students’ page where they can declare sexual harassment.
Llullaku said that in September of this year, the official website of UP will publish the research it has done, on the perception of students in relation to sexual harassment.
In addition to these, the UP has started conducting paid internships for its students.
A few months ago, 27 UP students complained to mathematics professor Xhevat Krasniqi about sexual harassment.
The student protests have made a big fuss all over the country and the same has been suspended from work.
