The Government of Kosovo is working on amendments to the Law on Tourism which is expected to go to the Assembly of Kosovo soon. However, the draft law that will be in the hands of the MPs does not provide for the country to have a National Tourism Agency. The head of MIET, Rozeta Hajdari, says that the country should have an offer for tourism that connects key sectors and that it does not see the need to establish an agency. However, members from the tourism community say that without this agency there will be no tourism development. Tourism associations say the country is suffering for a clear strategy to develop this sector.
The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, stated that they are in the process of amending the Law on Tourism. She said that they do not plan to establish a National Tourism Agency, as she believes that there are enough such agencies in Kosovo.
