Today marks 26 years since the Izbica massacre, where on March 28, 1999, Serbian police and military forces, after surrounding thousands of civilians from the village of Izbica and the surrounding settlements, separated 147 young men and elderly individuals, whom they killed and massacred, while expelling the rest outside of Kosovo.
The Izbica massacre ranks among the most serious crimes committed by the Serbian state, where the mass killing, desecration of bodies, and their burial, captured through satellite images, became global news, KosovaPress reports.
Today, 26 years after this crime, none of the Serbian perpetrators and executors have faced justice, either domestically or internationally.
