Local elections are being held in northern Macedonia for the seventh time since the country’s independence. The electoral process is taking place today. In the race for 80 municipalities and the City of Skopje are 299 candidates, while over 10,600 candidates for municipal councilors and the council of the City of Skopje.
Skopje has the most candidates for mayor, respectively 12, while Struga and Dolneni have 8 candidates each. 24 are independent candidates. Of all the mayoral candidates, only 25 are female.
