The National Theater of Kosovo has finished the year with about 186 performances, despite the fact that at the moment there are only 22 actors. 2023 is considered a successful year by the managers of this theater, even though they are holding their shows in a very limited place, in the amphitheater of the Palace of Youth.
Although according to the law there should be 30 actors, the theater currently has only 22. However, the theater claims that there is no longer any debate about the lack of audience in this institution.
The director of the National Theatre, Kushtrim Sheremeti, considers 2023 as a successful year, as they have performed good theatrical performances with full audiences.
He emphasizes that the space where they are working at the moment is very problematic because it is very limited, but they are trying to produce shows that fit the amphitheater of the Palace of Youth.
A big project for the theater in 2023 was “The Best European Show”, a collaboration with four European theaters, which in April 2024, will be realized in Prishtina. He also told KosovaPress that some projects will be realized during 2024, such as “Moisiu”, the second edition, the festival which will be held in Prishtina from November 20 to 28, 2024.
According to him, the discussion that the theater has a public crisis does not exist, as it has always been the most visited among other arts in Kosovo.
The National Theater facility, which has been closed for a year for renovation, is expected to open in 2025.
