The opposition first demands the resignation of Kurti, then the dissolution of the Assembly

The opposition parties in Kosovo first demand the resignation of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, then the dissolution of the Assembly of Kosovo, which would automatically send the country to snap elections. PDK, LDK and AAK are optimistic that a way will be found for snap elections, but the ruling party, Vetëvendosje, considers the opposition’s demands for new elections as frivolous since according to them they have no commitment for such a thing.

PDK MP, Blerta Deliu-Kodra, said that the country should go to elections as soon as possible, since according to her, Prime Minister Kurti has surrendered and it no longer makes sense to continue to govern.

The need for Kurti’s resignation was emphasized by the head of the LDK Parliamentary Group, Arben Gashi, who also said that Kurti has surrendered in the face of government incompetence, high corruption and successive damages in the international arena.

On the other hand, the head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, Besnik Tahiri, was more reserved about the dissolution of the Assembly. He mentioned the need first to debate Kurti’s three years of government, to expose all the failures like him, then he should resign and the country should go to snap elections.

However, the head of the VV Parliamentary Group, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, said that the opposition has no serious initiative to go to snap elections.

The parliamentary groups made these declarations after the meeting of the Presidency of the Assembly on Monday, where it was decided to hold two plenary sessions on Thursday.

The first is expected to be an extraordinary session, where it is expected to discuss the establishment of a parliamentary investigative commission for the single-source contracts of the Kurti Government, while the second session will continue with the unfinished items from the previous sessions.
