In January of this year, the number of beneficiaries from pension schemes increased, compared to the same period last year. According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, in January 2025, there was an increase in the number of beneficiaries from the scheme for financial support to families with children with disabilities by 17.7 percent, the Kosovo Security Force pension scheme by 11.6 percent, and the Paraplegic and Tetraplegic Pensions scheme by 8.3 percent.
Also during this period, the compensation scheme for education workers who worked during the 1990/91 school year to the 1998/99 school year has also increased in number by 4.7 percent, the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC) pension scheme by 3.9 percent, the basic old-age pension scheme by 3.8 percent and the war veterans scheme by 0.2 percent.
Meanwhile, according to KAS, the decrease in beneficiaries from pension schemes in January 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year are the Trepca pension schemes, the disability pension scheme, the social assistance scheme, and the contributory old-age pension scheme.
“In January 2025, compared to January 2024, there was a decrease in the number of beneficiaries from: the Trepca pension scheme by 20.5 percent, the disability pension scheme by 17 percent, the social assistance scheme by 11.4 percent, the family pension scheme by 6.3 percent, the compensation scheme for blind persons by 3.1 percent, the scheme for families of martyrs and war invalids by 1.8 percent; the pension scheme for persons with disabilities by 1.3 percent and the contributory old-age pension scheme by 1.2 percent,” the ASK report states.
Meanwhile, in December 2024, compared to December 2023, there was an increase in the number of beneficiaries from the scheme for financial support to families with children with disabilities by 14.5 percent, the Kosovo Security Force pension scheme by 11. 9 percent, the compensation scheme for education workers who worked during the 1990/91 school year to the 1998/99 school year by 5.1 percent. Pensioners from October 2024 receive their pensions with a 20 percent increase, as do war veterans from January of this year who receive this 20% increase.
