The businesses in the north of Mitrovica affected by the floods of January this year, even after almost a year, have not yet felt the hand of the state.
The owners of these businesses have expressed concern about the fact that the government has compensated the houses damaged by the floods in this part of the city, while not allocating a single cent for them.
Fidan Cimili, the owner of a window and door business in the “Bosnian Quarter” in the north of Mitrovica, tells KosovaPress that it is very bad, and that despite submitting all the necessary documentation, he has not yet received any response.
Also, Uran Duraku, co-owner of a business that deals with the production of ice in this neighborhood, announced that he was forced to take a loan from the bank again, in order to continue working.
According to him, any support from the state at this time would be very significant for his business.
Meanwhile, Nexhat Uglanin, chairman of the Municipal Assembly of Northern Mitrovica, at the same time chairman of the flood damage assessment commission, said that there are a total of six businesses affected by the floods that have not been compensated so far and that he does not know the reason for this.
He stated that the value of the damage to these businesses is considered to be up to 100 thousand euros and that he expects the compensation to be realized as soon as possible so that these businesses can continue working at full capacity.
On the other hand, KosovaPress has not been able to get an answer from the government about this issue for two weeks now. /A. Damati
