The Association of Kosovo Municipalities has asked the Government of Kosovo to set up an emergency fund to serve the municipalities after the damage caused by the floods and that the local institutions manage it themselves.
The delegation of the Board of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities consisting of Agim Ali – chairman, Imri Ahmeti – vice chairman, Bali Muharremaj – member and Sazan Ibrahimi – executive director visited the Municipality of Skenderaj today where they were received by the chairman Fadil Nura.
This visit was made to see closely the situation after the floods from the rains and to show solidarity with the citizens of the areas affected by this natural disaster.
The delegation of the AKM Board on this occasion expressed solidarity with all the areas affected by the floods in the municipality of Skenderaj, Istog, Mitrovica, Klina, Podujeva and other areas which were affected by the rain.
The AKM board has requested that the Government should provide the municipalities with an emergency fund, since floods are not the only problem, since during the year the municipalities are also faced with other natural disasters.
“The board requests that the emergency fund be managed by the municipalities to help their citizens”, the communiqué states.
In this meeting, other possibilities of cooperation between municipalities were also discussed in cases of natural disasters.
