Today, the European Front strongly accused the Albanian political subjects who are expected to be part of the future government of North Macedonia, saying that they are thereby violating the legitimacy of the free vote and the Ohrid Agreement.
In a press conference, the head of Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) Ali Ahmeti said that the European Front emerged as the winning coalition in the presidential elections with a margin of 40,000 votes, while in the parliamentary elections with over 31,000 votes and 6 more MPs.
The European Front and the Albanian opposition, in December 2023 and January 2024, signed a declaration of non-entry into the new Government without the constitutional changes. Ahmeti said that for the European Front it is unacceptable that the coalition with a smaller number of mandates becomes part of the government.
He has accused VLEN (opposition parties of North Macedonia) of violating the Ohrid Agreement, which is based on legitimacy, by entering into a governing partnership with VMRO-DPMNE (The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity).
Ahmeti did not want to reveal the next steps of the European Front, but briefly stated that the people will be notified in time.
VMRO-DPMNE and the coalition of four Albanian political parties VLEN say that they have finished the talks on co-governance and on the division of ministerial posts in the Government. Based on the warnings of VMRO-DPMNE, the new Government is expected to be elected by June 20 at the latest.
