The Executive Board of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOC) has approved the sports committee’s report on the selection of 10 Olympic hopefuls for 2023.

Scholarship holders will be supported with 150 euros per month from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, according to the regulation on the allocation of scholarships for Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls.

The selection of the scholarship holders was made based on the results achieved in 2022. In addition to skier Kiana Kryeziu, who participated with Olympic standard in the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the other nine selected scholarship holders also have medals won in the European or Balkan Championships. and the European Cup.

From the sport of judo are Dardan Cena, European U-18 bronze medalist and Laurina Gashi, two-time medalist (gold and silver) in the European Cup for cadets.

From boxing are the European bronze medalists for juniors, Taulant Jakupi and Donat Syla. Athletics is represented by the U-18 Balkan gold medalist, Enis Bytyqi.

Due to the results of wrestling in young age groups this year, the two girls, Elsa Nikoci and Lonisa Reka, made it to the top 10. Elsa, with two wins, came fifth in the European U-15, as well as runner-up of the U-15 Balkans, while Lonisa, runner-up of the U-17 Balkans.

The top 10 also includes two taekwondo fighters, Balkan medalists, Jon Gashi and Elion Agushi.

In January, the KOC will again announce the application to the Olympic sports federations for the 2023 Olympic Hope scholarship holders, who will be directly supported by the KOK, and the number of scholarship holders is expected to be over 25.
