Kosovo’s state leaders have demanded justice for the victims of the Recak massacre. At the memorial academy, on the 26th anniversary of this massacre, the need for the trial and punishment of the criminals who killed 45 innocent civilians in Recak to take place, even in their absence, was emphasized.
The country’s President, Vjosa Osmani, said that Recak is part of the national identity and a continuous goal to protect the independent state of Kosovo.
She said that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, continues to deny the Recak massacre, as she emphasized, at the time when people were being massacred in 1999, he justified them under the guise of the Minister of Information.
Osmani: We will never forget Recak and the truth it represents
“We will never forget Recak and the truth it represents. It is part of our national identity and a constant goal to protect our independent, sovereign and democratic state. We must never stop telling this truth. Every day, in every forum, everywhere in the world, we must prove that in 1998-99 the people of Kosovo defended their homeland from the genocidal regime of Serbia. At a time when Recak and all of Kosovo are still seeking justice for the innocent victims of the war, what we see in Serbia is a continuation of the 1990s, which caused over 100 thousand civilians to be killed in this part of Europe. When the people of Recak were being massacred, in Serbia, the propaganda to justify such massacres was carried out by the Minister of Information named Aleksandar Vucic. Today, he, under the guise of the president of Serbia, continues to deny the massacre of Recak, denies what the world saw with its own eyes, and calls Milosevic a great man with good intentions. As the propagandist that he is, on one hand he talks about peace, while on the other he sends terrorist paramilitary forces to attack Kosovo. But just like in the 90s, today too, Kosovo has sons and daughters who serve their homeland and protect every inch of it,” said Osmani.
