The birth of a baby is not always accompanied by warmth and love, as there are still parents who are turning their backs on their children. SOS Children’s Village of Kosovo continues to help abandoned children, where 37 children currently live, who are being given great care and attention.
However, the challenges for those children begin when they turn 18, as this support begins to wane and they need to become financially independent.
SOS village remains the only support for children who lack parental care. However, the leaders of this institution experience hard the moments when they do not have a place to shelter the children.
The leader of alternative care in SOS Children’s Villages of Kosovo, Besnik Peci, tells KosovaPress that in this village there are 37 children placed in seven SOS families, within this village, who are offered services in order not to feel the need of a family.
These children in SOS village are currently under the care of SOS mothers and the support team.
While Peci points out that during 2023, four children were admitted in SOS village, he also emphasizes the difficulties they go through in cases where there is no place for accepting new children in the SOS village.
Peci says that 14 employees take care of children between the ages of 4 and 18.
The difficulty for children living in SOS village is when they turn 18 years old.
