Some businesses ‘ignore’ the decision to limit working hours, here is how many fines were issued for one day

Despite the government’s decision to limit the working hours for some categories, the construction sector in some cases is not implementing this decision. From some images provided by KosovaPress, some workers in the capital are continuing their work in a regular manner, despite the call of the executive from 11:00 to 17:00 to stop work in this sector due to high temperatures. Meanwhile, these violations have also been confirmed by the Labor Inspectorate.

The chief inspector in this institution, Hekuran Nikçi, said that only on Saturday, 28 companies were identified that did not respect the decision, for which he said that fines will be imposed.

Nikçi says that yesterday and today they continued with inspections, adding that they found the most violations in the construction sector.

Meanwhile, some other companies that are respecting the decision, ask the government to be subsidized, as they say that they are being harmed.

The contractor of a company in the country, Ibish Bardhi, says that they have been extremely damaged by this decision, since, as he says, they have several projects that must be completed by a certain date. Meanwhile, he asked the state to compensate for the lost hours of work after the decision.

KosovaPress has also sent questions to the relevant ministries if they have initiated any request to compensate the companies that are affected by the decision, but they have not returned an answer until the publication of this topic.

Although welcome, this decision is also seen as harmful by experts in the economy. The economic expert, Mustafa Kadrija, says that the government should take steps to help the companies that have been affected in this regard.

Meanwhile, the public sector is respecting the decision regarding the release from work for certain categories, pregnant women and citizens with chronic diseases who have to work half-time.

We remind you that due to the high temperatures in the following days, the Ministry of Health has decided to limit the working hours from 13.07.2024 for some categories.

From 13.07.2024 to 20.07.2024, pregnant women are released from work.

“In case of the impossibility of release from work according to paragraph 1 of this decision, pregnant women work from home”, it is stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health has also made a decision that from 13.07.2024 to 20.07.2024, citizens with chronic diseases will work reduced hours up to 4 hours a day.

Meanwhile, part of the decision is that throughout the territory of Kosovo, construction work will be prohibited from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The circulation of vehicles over 7.5 tons on the roads of Kosovo is also prohibited. NIPHK (National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo) has published a list of chronic diseases, which can be considered when implementing the decision.
