The former Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Kosovo, Joachim Rucker, is optimistic about Kosovo’s membership in the European Union.
Rucker in an interview for KosovaPress says that Kosovo is part of the Euro-Atlantic Community and that he sees its future in the EU.
Meanwhile, as for whether the sanctions against Kosovo should be lifted, Rucker says that the EU’s demands are very important and as such can be fulfilled by the current government, so that the process can move forward.
In addition to these, Rucker also talks about the decision regarding the dinar for KosovaPress, which he believes was presented a bit hastily. He adds that Kosovo Serbs should be given more time to adapt to such a decision.
The former Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Kosovo, Joachim Rucker, is convinced that there will be results in the medium term regarding the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
He points out that the UN is an important place to resolve such issues.
Meanwhile, regarding the current government’s decision not to allow the use of the dinar in Kosovo, Rucker considers that it was introduced hastily, for which he says that politically, more time should be given to those who use it to adapt to such a change.
About a week ago, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in the extraordinary session of the UN Security Council, said that the dinar has not been banned in Kosovo, but the euro is the only payment currency in Kosovo.
Kurti emphasized that there is very good cooperation with the Kosovo Serbs and that there is no problem with them. He added that CBK is ready to cooperate with the Central Bank of Serbia.
The Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) has announced that the transition phase of the implementation of its regulation, which prohibits the use of the Serbian dinar, cannot last more than three months.
