More than two decades after the war, it is still difficult to document war crimes, especially of those who have experienced sexual violence. There has not even been an institutional initiative for such a thing, yet women and men are still reluctant to speak out because of the stigma towards them. KRCT has published today the report “Right to Truth – unnamed victims”, which documents the stories of more than 340 survivors. 22 percent of them said that the rape took place in their home, 13 of the women became pregnant. Whereas, only 13 have presented cases in justice institutions.
The victims who are part of the documentation of their history in this report, so far, the status has been recognized to only 194 people, 61 cases are pending, while 28 cases have been rejected.
