Judo coach Majlinda Kelmendi and judokas Distria Krasniqi and Nora Gjakova have become part of the Albanian Army with the rank of colonels, along with many other elite athletes from the Republic of Albania.
The prime minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama, has called this day historic for the Albanian Army, adding that the uniqueness of this event is that the three Olympic champions from Kosovo, Majlinda Kelmendi, Distria Krasniqi and Nora Gjakova, are also in this group.
He said that from now on these athletes will have the same mission, the same ambitions and will in the function of not only sports but also the armed forces.
