In the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, today the trial began against the former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Pjetër Shala, who is charged with war crimes. In front of the trial panel, Shala once again pleaded not guilty, while calling the accusations read by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office slander. This office makes Shala responsible for arbitrary detention, cruel treatment, torture, illegal murder, which the prosecution claims happened in the period of May-June 1999 in the metal factory in Kukës.
