The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has criticized the Kurti Government that the decision to pay compensation of 21 million euros to the American company “Contour Global” was deliberate, causing damage to the country’s budget and economy as an epilogue to the arbitration process after the failure of the construction of the power plant.
This value was said to be equal to 42,000 average salaries in Kosovo or 210,000 pensions, for which they assessed it as a great loss for the citizens of the country.
The member of the Presidency of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bernard Nikaj, in a press conference said that the current government has failed in the management for the creation of new energy capacities not starting any new projects. As a failure of this government, Nikaj also mentioned the cancellation of the natural gas project.
The other member of the Presidency of the PDK, Blerand Stavileci, said that as a result of the government’s lack of work and incompetence, citizens must pay 150 million euros more for electricity, without adding a single megawatt to the system. He said that the government’s failures are at the expense of the citizens, while adding that the economy needs secure energy and affordable prices.
On Wednesday, the Government of Kosovo decided to pay over 21 million euros in compensation to the American company “Contour Global”, after the loss in the International Court of Arbitration last year.
