The Democratic Party of Kosovo has requested that VAT be removed from electricity bills. This request, together with 6 others, was submitted by MP Ferat Shala at the session of the Assembly of Kosovo, for which he said that it will enable the winter to be overcome more easily.
Shala said that the energy sector in the country is facing a lack of financial liquidity, and according to him, this is happening, among other things, due to the fault of the Government of Kosovo.
“The first is the non-allocation of the subsidy in the amount of 100 million euros, which has caused the public service supplier to ask the ERO to open an extraordinary review (of tariffs), so the government has been deceiving the sector for 6 months now and we enter a whole new phase. The second is the enormous growth in the international stock market. The third factor is the mismanagement of KEK as the main energy producer in the country which is currently on the brink of collapse. No maintenance, no preparation of work in the mines, no supply of raw materials and many other things”, stated Shala.
Shala said that as a party they are worried and concerned that in the absence of the government’s response, the citizens may face another increase in prices which, according to him, will be unbearable.
According to him, the government must take quick and appropriate measures to manage the situation in the coming months as it will not be easy.
