The situation at the Iber Bridge in Mitrovica continues to be calm and under control.
Security experts and representatives of the Municipal Assembly of the municipality of North Mitrovica consider that the opening of the Iber Bridge should be done, because according to them there is no reason for it to remain closed.
They have said that there are no indications that the situation will escalate and there will be tensions.
The security expert, Arben Dashevci, said that there has never been a more favorable moment than now to open the bridge.
He said that in terms of security, there is no ethnic problem that would prevent its opening.
He said that there will be no tensions, because according to him, those who want to destabilize the situation are wanted and cannot be found here.
Likewise, the deputy chairman of the Municipal Assembly in North Mitrovica, Skender Sadiku, said that the opening of the Iber Bridge should take place and that this is not contested. Beyond that, he points out that it is late for its opening.
He said that there are no indications that the situation near the bridge will escalate and there will be tensions.
In the morning it was reported that about three KFOR armored vehicles were present at the Iber Bridge.
Meanwhile, there are two different positions regarding the opening of the bridge, between the US ambassador, Jeffry Hovenier and KFOR, as well as the government of Kosovo.
The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, has said that there is a real risk associated with the opening of the bridge in Mitrovica at this time, which could affect the safety of NATO soldiers, including American ones.
Meanwhile, today at the Government meeting, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stated that the opening of the bridge is not against anyone, much less against Kosovo’s partners.
On Tuesday, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Hysen Durmishi, stated that the Bridge over the Iber River is stable and functional.
