No new decision on electricity tariffs, comments can still be submitted today

The Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) has clarified that no decision has been made regarding an increase in electricity tariffs.

According to a statement released on the social media platform Facebook, ZRRE stated that in order to ensure transparency and create an opportunity for open dialogue among all interested parties, it has decided to open for public consultation the Consultative Report on Maximum Allowed Revenues, KosovaPress reports.

“As part of efforts to ensure an open and transparent process, ZRRE invites all interested parties—including consumers, civil society organizations, and businesses—to submit their comments and suggestions on the published report by March 28. This process is an opportunity to ensure that any decision made is based on diverse opinions and contributes to creating a fair and balanced system for everyone,” the statement reads.

ZRRE has expressed its commitment to providing complete, accurate, and clear information, as well as maintaining open and continuous communication with the public regarding any developments that may impact electricity tariffs.

Meanwhile, the Energy Regulatory Office has announced that, based on the findings of its consultative report on maximum allowed revenues, the average tariff increase for consumers is expected to be around 15%.

The increase in electricity prices has been met with opposition from citizens, businesses, and opposition parties. The rise in energy bills is seen as harmful to both citizens and businesses, as it is said to directly impact their livelihoods.

The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed deep concern over the Energy Regulatory Office’s announcement of a 15% increase in electricity prices. This decision is considered to have been made without proper consultations with businesses and without a thorough analysis of the potential consequences for local producers.
