Nine years ago, on November 29, 2012, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) acquitted Ramush Haradinaj, Lahi Ibrahimaj and Idriz Balaj. The decision of the Hague Tribunal acquitted the former fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army of all charges. The partial retrial decision on the charge of “murder, torture and cruel treatment as crimes contrary to the laws and customs of war” was read out by the judge in the case, Bakone Justice Moloto.
Many citizens attended the hearing directly in the square, through giant screens and waited with applause and fireworks for the decision of the Hague Tribunal for the long-awaited release of the former KLA commander, Ramush Haradinaj. Haradinaj and his comrades were welcomed as heroes in the center of Prishtina by thousands of citizens, in an organization of Associations from the KLA War.
